About Basil

Basil - The Home Companion is a digital service designed to help users organise information and documents concerning their home and prepare property information for future use.

These Terms govern your use of Basil. By creating an account or using Basil, you agree to these Terms.

Basil - The Home Companion is operated by Darren Gill trading as Basil - The Home Companion.

Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating and using your account and take reasonable steps to keep your login credentials secure.

You are responsible for activity through your account except where caused by something for which Basil is legally responsible.

Basil is intended for users aged 18 or over.

Property information

You are responsible for checking that information stored in Basil is accurate and current.

Information obtained from external sources, automatically populated by Basil or extracted from documents may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date and should be reviewed before reliance.

TA6, TA10 and Sale Ready

Basil may help users collect information and prepare drafts of property forms, including TA6 and TA10 forms, and supporting Sale Packs.

You remain responsible for checking information contained in generated documents before using or sharing them.

A solicitor or conveyancer may require information to be amended, supplemented, verified or provided in another format.

Generation of a document by Basil does not mean that it is complete, legally sufficient or appropriate for a particular transaction.

Uploaded documents

You may only upload material you are entitled to possess and use. You must not knowingly upload unlawful, malicious or infringing material.

You are responsible for reviewing information and documents before sharing them with third parties.

Third-party information and services

Some Basil features rely on information or services provided by third parties.

Basil cannot guarantee that third-party information will always be available, complete, accurate or current. Temporary interruption or changes to third-party services may affect individual Basil features.

Subscriptions and payments

Certain Basil features or access may require a paid subscription. The price and billing period will be displayed before purchase.

Purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play are also subject to the applicable store's payment and subscription terms.

Users can manage or cancel app-store subscriptions through the relevant store account settings. Cancellation prevents future renewal but does not normally retrospectively refund amounts already charged, except where required by law or applicable store rules.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

Acceptable use

You must not misuse Basil, attempt to access another user's information without authority, interfere with the operation or security of the service, introduce malicious software or use Basil for unlawful purposes.

Availability

We aim to keep Basil available and reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Reasonable changes may be made to Basil, including improving, replacing or discontinuing individual features.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.

Basil is a home-information and organisation tool. Users should obtain appropriate professional advice where a decision has legal, financial, structural, safety or other professional consequences.

Ending an account

You may stop using Basil at any time and may request permanent account deletion.

Basil may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of serious misuse, security risks, fraud or material breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights applying elsewhere in the United Kingdom.
